It'd been a long while since Cerridwen visited the halls of the DA. But she wasn't going to let that stop her from saying hello to Kenosha.
Sneaking through the corridor she stopped at Kenosha's door.
*knock knock*

Kenosha sat at her desk doing some paperwork. DA had been quiet for the last week or two. The only targets they had at the moment were all snugged up in Shadows where they had been for the last few months. That's ok. They would have to come out eventually and when they did, DA would be there waiting for them.
At least with the downtime, Kenosha had time to do a little restocking and regain some of the blood she had lost over the last few months. Not that blood mattered but that wasn't going to stop her from getting some while she could.
Kenosha finished the last form she was working on and threw the pen down on the desk. She grabbed the finished files and began filing them into the appropriate places when there was a light knock on the door. She looked up with a start. Nobody really used their offices much since they were always in the streets working, so for someone to be at the door was unusual. Maybe it was a new client coming to end her boredom. She called out, "Come on in, it's open."

Turning the knob it creaked from non-use. As I pushed the door open there was Kenosha, always working. Wonderfully organized and always on the ball. A smile crossed my lips and lite my eyes as I sauntered in the room towards her.
I leaned upon the desk and pushed some of the files around pretending to snoop as I asked, "How are you sister?"

As the door creaked open, Kenosha made a mental note to have it oiled or it would end up driving her nuts.
She looked up to see Cerridwen walking in with a grin on her face. Cerri approached the desk, poking at some papers as she leaned down. "How are you sister?"
Kenosha cracked a huge smile of her own and squealed, "Cerri!!!" She grabbed the papers up and stuffed them in a drawer and pushed it until she heard the lock click in place before coming around the desk and grabbing Cerri in a big hug.
Usually hugging wasn't Kenosha's thing and one may easily find themselves in deep shit for trying it, but there were a few exceptions. Cerri was one of them.
They had met and bonded as intel agents way back when the City was new, and remained friends ever since. At some point they made a blood oath to be sisters and for a short while were both childer of Lucius. If there was anyone who could make Kenosha smile, it was Cerri.
Cerridwen had been a part of DA for a while, but had taken a break and the Shadows consumed her. Kenosha had sensed her around here and there recently but hadn't been able to catch up with her. Now here she was standing in her office and Kenosha realized how much she had missed her.
Kenosha dragged Cerri over to a set of chairs and pushed her into one, grabbed a bottle and two glasses and sat in the other. "So where have you been? How are you doing? Are you back for good or just passing through? DA will always have a spot for you if you have the time and want to come back." Kenosha realized she was rambling in her excitement at seeing her old friend and shut her mouth to give Cerri a chance to answer.

Before I knew it I was squeezed and then unceremoniously pushed into a chair and a glass shoved in my hand. I laughed and smiled over at Kenosha.
I had missed her more than I realized. After so long in shadows it was hard to emerge. I chided myself inwardly for being gone so long. The sound of her voice was comforting and soothing to my soul as she shot off question after question.
Twirling the cup in my fingers I said, "I've been doing better Sister. I'm truly sorry for being away so long. V-Rex sired me not long ago, so I've been at the family dwelling. Resting and enjoying being part of a family again."
I reached out and grabbed the bottle pouring the two glasses full. After taking a long drink I spoke again, "I cannot commit to being in the DA as before, Sister-mine, which I regret. However, that does not mean I am not going to be around for you. You taking care of yourself?"

Always looking out for me, Kenosha thought. "Yes, I have been taking care of myself. A lot has changed since you were here, but I think most of it has been for the better. I do miss you being around though, you have a way of making people feel at home."
"V-Rex is a good choice. I believe he is Jadas's sire also. She is still here by the way. I finally severed Lucius and took Majica as a sire. It was a hard choice, but sometimes you have to let go of the past. I must admit I'm not much used to the mothering and the whole family deal yet. I'm too used to being on my own."
Kenosha sighed as she drained her glass and poured another. "It really is good to see you again."

I smiled as she spoke, watching her move. She always moved so gracefully. Mesmerizing. I took a sip of my drink and almost choked.
Majica! Well sister mine, you've definitely joined a large family indeed. I can understand completely. It can be overwhelming at first.
I am very happy to be with V-rex. It almost feels odd at times to have a Sire again and a family. It's hard to break the cycle of aloneness, does that make sense?"
I moved around the office admiring all the photos and artworks hanging. Her office was warm and inviting.
"Kenosha, you always discredit yourself. Look around you", I said with a sweep of my arm indicating the room.
"You've made this into a wonderful home. I'm very proud of you and its good to see you too."
I walked back towards the desk and poured more of the fine liquid into my glass.
"So how are you liking your family?"

"Strangers in the Night" is a song credited to Bert Kaempfert with English lyrics by Charles Singleton and Eddie Snyder. Kaempfert originally used it under the title "Beddy Bye" as part of the instrumental score for the movie A Man Could Get Killed. The song was made famous in 1966 by Frank Sinatra, although it was initially given to Melina Mercouri, who thought that a man's vocals would suit more to the melody and therefore declined to sing it. Reaching number one on both the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the Easy Listening chart, it was the title song for Sinatra's 1966 album Strangers in the Night, which became his most commercially successful album. The song also reached number one on the UK Singles Chart.
